Interfaith blog September 2025

Autumn equinox falls on the 22nd September this year, and is celebrated as the second of three harvest festivals in the wheel of the year.

I spend much of my time throughout the year engaged in planting seeds. Seeds of ideas, seeds of connection, seeds of knowledge and information, all in the hope that not only will people from other faiths and of no religious affiliation might gain a better understanding of Pagans and their traditions, but also so that they see Pagans as part of wider society who contribute and who belong.

Our history is one that has experience of exclusion and demonisation, and some of that still occurs today. Consequently, it’s understandable that some Pagans on a personal level, feel safer keeping their beliefs hidden. A downside to that could be that we’re self-excluding and that it makes it easier for those who would demonise us as ‘the unknown’ to do so without challenge.

I’m hoping to possibly harvest some positive effects of the various blog posts I have made introducing you to Interfaith work and to aspects of different faith community beliefs and practices that share some characteristics with Pagan festivals. Next month will conclude with Samhain, a time of reflection, followed by November which includes Interfaith week from 9th to 16th November. I’d like you to consider the possibility of inviting other local faith communities to a social gathering, maybe a moot in November. It doesn’t need to be anything formal or elaborate. Simply an opportunity for people to meet local Pagans. You might prepare for such an event by considering 2 or 3 things you’d most like others to know about your personal path so you have something specifically ‘Pagan’ to share. But more importantly, be prepared to share who you are. Interfaith is relational and works best when we get to know others as people, not just representatives of their faith, belief or worldview. So you might well get to meet some lovely people who just happen to hold different beliefs to you,

If you DO manage to arrange something for November, I’d love to hear about it.
