The Jack in the Green Festival at Hastings, held every year on the May Bank
Holiday weekend. This extraviganza started life as a morris festival, but you
would go a long way to find anything with its roots more deeply set in Pagan
traditions, from the crowning of the May Queen to the slaughter of the 'Jack'.
A fabulous day out for all the family
The Sweeps festival which runs over the whole of the 1st May bank holiday
in Rochester where you can see dozens of morris troops as well as the Green Man
and May Queen!
The Green Fair usually takes place on the second bank holiday Monday in Mote
Park, Maidstone and has 2 or 3 live music stages, stalls from local shops and
lots of organic food stalls to try, it is a charity event for
green/environmental organisations.
